Book Summary

He found me in blood and tears.
I stayed with him through darkness and fire.

We loved each other in the moment between innocence and bitter truth.
We were the kids easily ignored, who grew into adults we hardly knew.

We weren’t meant to last forever. And we didn’t.

He ran away.
I tried to move on.

Yet I never stopped thinking about the boy who had fought to keep me alive in a world that would have swallowed me whole. He was the past that I buried, but never forgot.

Until the day I found him again, years after believing I had lost him forever.

And in cold, resentful eyes, I saw the heart of the man who had been everything when I had nothing at all. So I vowed to hold onto the second chance that was stolen from the children we had been.

Sometimes fate is ugly. Life can be twisted.
And who we are can be ruined by who we once were.

For two people who had survived so much, we would have to learn how to hold on before we were forced to let go.

My Review

So, I started this book weeks ago, but then I didn’t have time to “read”. I normally listen to books for that reason. Finally, I had some time to read and devoured the book in record time.

This book hooks you. It sinks its claws in you forcing you to turn the next page with abandon. I have to say, I have a weakness for broken men. Add to that one of my number one most admired qualities in a real or fictional person, selflessness, and I was sunk.

What I also love about this story is its uniqueness. These kids had problems and still had problems. They weren’t millionaires. It was real.

I loved a lot about this book and why not 5 stars. Primarily this is due to how the story was wrapped up in the final chapters. It was like on fast forward without a pause and not a lot of detail. And after the journey I as a reader took, I expected more. And I was left with questions I didn’t think I should have. And for that reason, I couldn’t give the book full marks.

However, Yoss will live on as one of my top book boyfriends. He’s everything one of my top book boyfriends should be for the reasons above.

My book boyfriend Yoss.
