Bouquet Toss by Melissa Brown

Bouquet Toss by Melissa Brown

An adutlt contemporary romance novel (Rated R)

Book Blurb

Ever since Daphne Harper graduated from college, all of her friends have fallen in love, become engaged and walked down the aisle. Be it a blessing or a curse, Daphne (a hopeless romantic and perpetual single girl) catches the bouquet at every single wedding she attends.

Daphne’s love life is a mess. Her first love, Mayson, haunts her heart and keeps her from pursuing happiness with any man who comes along. As she struggles to move on from the one who got away, Daphne wonders if she will ever break her curse and find her happily ever after.

 My Review

When you start this one, you might get annoyed with Daphne. And that is okay. There is a reason for everything and just continue on. This story may annoy some like me because it reminds you of how you were once stupid over a guy. One who made you do things out of character just because you wanted him. So push on.

I have to say, I hated Mayson, loved him, hated him, and well, I won’t say anymore. Then there was Tanner and I was like, why not? Then he was just too perfect for words and I said, you know what they say about too good to be true. And there was Evan. And I was like hell yeah.

Okay, so I can’t say anymore without spoiling the story. It’s a romance story that although there is a HEA (happily ever after), it was a hard fought road to get there. The author does a good job of not lets us know for sure who she should end up with. And I should clarify, there isn’t a love triangle at least not for Daphne. There is a progression of events where different men end up in her dating life. Normal, so no worries there.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. In the end, I couldn’t have been happier with her choice even though I changed my mind several times throughout the story. That shows a great author when she can swing you her way.

My book boyfriend, Tanner

Crash (Crash #1) by Nicole Williams

Crash (Crash #1) by Nicole Williams

A mature young adult contemporary romance novel. (Rated R)

 ♥♥♥♥
(Four amazingballs hearts)

Book Blurb

Southpointe High is the last place Lucy wanted to wind up her senior year of school. Right up until she stumbles into Jude Ryder, a guy whose name has become its own verb, and synonymous with trouble. He's got a rap sheet that runs longer than a senior thesis, has had his name sighed, shouted, and cursed by more women than Lucy dares to ask, and lives at the local boys home where disturbed seems to be the status quo for the residents. Lucy had a stable at best, quirky at worst, upbringing. She lives for wearing the satin down on her ballet shoes, has her sights set on Juilliard, and has been careful to keep trouble out of her life. Up until now.

Jude's everything she needs to stay away from if she wants to separate her past from her future. Staying away, she's about to find out, is the only thing she's incapable of.

For Lucy Larson and Jude Ryder, love's about to become the thing that tears them apart.

My Review

This is being compared to Beautiful Disaster. And I can see why. However for me, this book fell slightly short of that height, but I certainly enjoyed the ride it took me on.

First let me say, Jude, our guy here is the real deal. I think he may be the first real bad boy in a YA series I’ve ever read. A lot of bad boys talk the talk and walk the walk. But they don’t have the criminal record to go along with it, lol.

There were a lot of twists in this book that I so predicted wrong. I think the author took pleasure in making us believe one thing and doing another. Well played. The drama that unfolded in this book had me riveted. Almost a five star but not quite.

My problem started in the beginning when I thought Jude’s dialogue was a bit old for his age. However, I take that back. After reading the whole book, I can see how he got that way. Doing time can change a person, lol.

I almost forgave it, but found the last twist towards the end although a shocker a tad bit unbelievable. Fate can be a bitch, but I’m not sure I buy that one. However, it worked. So I’m not going to take too much away from this one. I’m so looking forward to the next in the series. Yes, Clash is out. It will be my next for fun read.

Overall, certain well worth the price of admission. I was thoroughly entertained.

My book boyfriend, Jude.

Book Blurb

Her breathless kiss haunts him...
Bowen MacRieve of the Lykae clan was nearly destroyed when he lost the one woman meant for him. The ruthless warrior grew even colder, never taking another to his bed--until a smoldering encounter with his enemy, Mariketa the Awaited, reawakens his darkest desires. When sinister forces unite against her, the Highlander finds himself using all his strength and skill to keep her alive.

His slow, hot touch is irresistible...
Temporarily stripped of her powers, Mari is forced to take refuge with her sworn adversary. It's rumored that no one can tempt Bowen's hardened heart, but soon passion burns between them. Though a future together is impossible, she fears he has no intention of letting her go.

No deed is too wicked for her seduction...
If they defeat the evil that surrounds them, can Mari deny Bowen when he demands her body and soul--or will she risk everything for her fierce protector?

My Review

This series has a lot of characters and I could remember if this Mari was the one he spoke of in earlier editions. But anyway, what a ride this was. I had a soft spot for Bowen when I first met him. I was waiting for his story.

This could have been so predictable, but somehow it wasn’t. Yeah, I knew the HEA was coming but I meant who we got there. The tension between the two was awesome and well played by the author. I have to admit, I was also kind of rooting for the demon king. Boy I was wrong there. And there was the demon’s brother Cade.

Okay, let me get back on track. This was a hot sweaty ride n the jungle. Can I be lost? Pretty please. Damn if I did get caught up in this one.

It also helped with the audio version. I think this is one time where the audio really added value to the story.

Audio Review

Robert Petkoff was the narrator in this one. I think he one gets a lot of credit for my enjoyment of this story. Although his female voice sounds forced like a guy trying to sound female, he all but makes up for it with his role of Bowen. His Scottish brogue was a turn on from the beginning. Wow, just wow. All his guy voices were incredibly sexy.

Overall, I likey a lot. Although this could possibly be read as a stand alone, I wouldn’t suggest it. There is just too much going on with character from previous editions, that you would miss out some.

Anywho, My book Boyfriend is Bowen.

This is an adult contemporary romance novel (Rated NC-17)

(Four sexy heart because my heart couldn't stop beating)

BOOK BLURB....

Seducing Mr. Wrong has never felt so right...

Prim and proper art gallery coordinator Elle Walser is no good at seducing men. Heck, she’s been throwing hints at her boss for months, but he’s completely clueless. Desperate to escape her mother’s matchmaking efforts, she comes up with a plan—buy some lingerie and climb into her boss’s bed. The plan goes brilliantly…until she accidentally seduces a sexy stranger instead.

Bad boy nightclub mogul Gabe Schultz just had the best almost-sex of his life. Too bad the smoking hot blonde thought he was his brother and bolted before he could finish what they started. Though her holier-than-thou attitude puts a serious damper on his mood, Gabe’s never been one to give up on something he wants. And he wants Elle. But does a man who lives on the dark side really have a chance with a proper lady?

WHAT DID I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS ONE?

The set up of this book is a familiar one, but somehow this author made it her own. I was nervous in the beginning, but I hung in there to enjoy the ride.

One thing that I really liked was that Elle seemed real. She didn’t cave but she didn’t play coy either. It was the perfect mix to have me on the edge waiting for a HEA that was sure to come.

Gabe is the perfect guys. Part bad boy, part prince, and he was certainly worth reading about. He was a bad boy in a nice way, loved that too. I hate jerks and he was not.

This is a really cute story with WTF moment in the beginning, angst in the middle and a HEA in the end. What more can you ask for in a contemporary romance novel. I can’t say more without giving away the plot. But do I recommend, YES.

Overall, I really liked this one and found a book boyfriend worthy of my top guys.

My Review
This book was a short hot ride to yummy town. Don’t be surprised that by the length. Just enjoy the quick gratification of a HEA.

This book starts things off with Rand, our delicious werewolf. He is the lover of our group. And he falls hard and fast for our girl Scarlet in more ways than one.

Then there is Hayden, our wicked vampire. He is the bad boy of the two and long lived, he is skilled in all areas of love making.

Between the two Scarlet will have her hands full and so will they. YUM.

The insta love I will forgive considering this is an erotica novella. And two hot alpha males makes up for most of it. I wanted to insert myself into the pages, lol.

Within The Shadows (A Shadows World #1) by Julieanne Lynch Blog Tour

Within The Shadows (A Shadows World #1) by Julieanne Lynch Blog Tour

This is a paranormal romance (Rated NC-17)

BOOK BLURB

Living on the razors edge, Giselle Burgman's life is torn apart by her cheating boyfriend. Little does she realise that he is the least of her worries when her long term friend Alex introduces her to his family and a new, darker world. A world of lies, deceit and corruption. Thrown from one problem straight into another, the razors edge gets thinner and sharper, testing Giselle's sanity and vitality. Not even she can hide when living within the shadows.

WHAT DID I THINK OF THIS BOOK?

This story is not for the faint of heart and has several disturbing scenes in it. I figure the author was trying to make a point how these days it seems like a dream if we were to meet up in real life with a vampire. There is nothing in this story to point to that scenario. Some might find this book refreshing because it is so different in that respect than all the others.

Giselle is a girl I tried to sympathize with. However, she’s a fighter at times and at others she gives into easily. Then there is the whole insta love creepy factor. I don’t care for insta love. Added to that, who she has an insta love with is just creepy.

In the beginning I was unable to stop turning the pages. Then I got to the point where I wanted to give up. But again, thinking that there is a point to all the “creepy” factors in the story, I finished. And I must say, I will probably read the next one because I’m curious where all of this is going to go.

My book boyfriend is Marc. There is just no other choice. (I couldn't find out his hair color, so forgive me)

BOOK 2

Book Blurb

New beginnings, new conflicts, and new adventures arise in the second installment of the Eden Series, Eden-West.

Months after his initial journey to Eden, Aiden is learning to cope with his own transformation. His social status has changed, his friendship with his best friend Ethan is in jeopardy because of it, and worst of all, he has heard absolutely nothing from his new friends in Eden. What has become of the world he fell in love with? Are his friends safe? Is the war over? With no answers, and no hope for contact, Aiden decides to focus on his life in his world.

Just as he makes this decision, he encounters a familiar bright light and thinks he knows exactly what it means. Except the light isn’t at all what he expects and neither is the person behind it. When Aiden returns to Eden, it is to a whole new part of that special world, and a whole new set of adventures.

Weeks after Aiden was returned to his own world, Elisa is sent to Nysa, the revered Southern city, to retrieve the one thing she’d rather avoid – Wolf. Captain Turk instructed her to get in and get out - but that is easier said than done. When she finds her missing friend, she also stumbles upon a great deal of trouble. This trouble goes by one name – Markus, the leader of the Sun People.

Follow all your favourite characters as they ready themselves for battle and fight for a world threatened to be destroyed.

What do I have to say about this series.... EVERYTHING!

This author is amazing at weaving a tale with multiple POVs.  I had a hard time choosing who I cared to read more about.  She’d change POVs and I would curse but at the same time I was happy to get back to the POV I was now reading.  It takes a special kind of author to write magic like she does.  And it was pure magic.  I think I’m here biggest fan!!!!

So, if you haven’t read this series, do it.  This is a fantasy novel at it's very best. You can say that Aiden is the central character but there are so many more.  It’s hard not to love them all even the supposed evil ones.  It’s a fantasy based story.  It’s setting is current times and a fantastical place in another realm.  Sounds confusing, it’s not. Janelle Standler makes it effortless.  You won’t even be confused with any transition whether place or POV.  Most of the action does take place in the magical world known as Eden.

Not to give anymore away, I have to say READ this one.  Especially if you like fantasy.  Even if you don’t, you should give it a try.  It’s one of those reads that will easily become and awesome exception for you if you normally don’t read this genre.

Overall, AWESOME.

My book boyfriend is Callum and Wolf.  What can I say, I love them both.  But since I have an interview with the sexy Callum....

We will focus on him....YUM! I have to warn you how ruggedly handsome he is. (okay hopefully he didn't read that)

Hello, I'd like to thank Callum from Eden Central, I'm mean Eden North to talk to us.
Thank you for having me.
1.  First, I'd like to ask, what did your brother, Jameson, do so bad that you are fighting with him now?
That’s a loaded question. If you had to grow up with Jameson as your brother like I did, you’d understand my view. I wouldn’t necessarily say that I am fighting Jameson personally, although I do have my issues with him. What I’m fighting against is the High King; it just happens that he is my brother. My father’s betrayal and decision to crown a man that is less qualified than myself is the driving force behind my anger. My problem with Jameson himself is that I think he is irresponsible, undisciplined and immature. He’s not a King. I’ve been around him long enough to know that he can’t take anything seriously. He’d rather be playing with his soldier friends than dealing with the real issues in the Capital. I spent my youth learning what it takes to be King, and that was taken away from me.
2.  During this journey you met a young woman you've become enamoured with.  What will you do if she chooses to go with her brother over staying with you?
I respect Rose enough to honour whatever decision she makes. Her only family left is her brother, and I know how much he means to her. Do I want her to go? Honestly, no. Do I have a choice? Again, no. I promised her the opportunity to leave, and I don’t go back on my word.
3.  Was Brutus more of a brother to you than Jameson?
Absolutely. I might have spent my entire youth with Jameson, but we were always polar opposites. Where I was serious and a hard worker, my brother was flippant and absent around the palace. Brutus understands me. Both of us are dedicated men to our causes. We believe in strict rules and abide by them. I can sit with Brutus and know that he is listening and will offer me sound advice. He is wise where Jameson is not. Perhaps Jameson has grown since the time I spent with him, who knows, but Brutus was there when I needed him and Jameson was not.
4.  What will you do if you win this war?  How will you handle your brother if he is still alive?
I will become High King when I win this war. I will show the people of Eden that I should have always been King, and I will restore order and peace to the land. My brother will not be alive. It can only be one of us – him or me.
5.  If there is a choice between winning the war and saving the woman you love, what will you choose?
I’m not sure how to answer that. This war has been my life’s purpose for a decade now. I’m not sure if anything could turn me away from the path I have chosen.
Thanks for stopping by Callum.  We hope to hear more from you soon.
*smiles* It was my pleasure.

Delusion in Death (In Death #35) ~ J.D. Robb

This is an adult set in the future police procedural novel (Rated NC-17)

4.5 out of 5

Book Summary

It was just another after-work happy-hour bar downtown, where business professionals unwound with a few drinks . . .until something went terribly wrong. And after twelve minutes of chaos and violence, eighty people lay dead.

Lieutenant Eve Dallas is trying to sort out the inexplicable events. Surviving witnesses talk about seeing things—monsters and swarms of bees. They describe sudden, overwhelming feelings of fear and rage and paranoia. When forensics gives its report, the mass delusions make more sense: It appears the
bar patrons were exposed to a cocktail of chemicals and illegal drugs that could drive anyone to temporary insanity—if not kill them outright.

But that doesn’t explain who would unleash such horror—or why. And if Eve can’t figure it out fast, it could happen again, anytime, anywhere. Because it’s airborne. . . .

My Review

Reading this series, I feel like I’m home. This genre is my first love. It mixes sci fi with crime thrillers. I love this series just so much.

I wasn’t blown away by this one, nor was I disappointed. It’s hard to create the romantic magic of the series early on when things were a mystery. At the same time, the crime mystery part was really interesting.

It was a solid read and I kept reading on through and look forward to the next one. Nora Roberts aka J.D. Robb does an amazing job with her cast in crew in the series. I could only hope this would reach tv series status assuming it was cast well.

Overall, I liked it. I love Roarke and for those who haven’t read, get to it.

Audio Review
Susan Ericksen does this series proud.  I love her voices for the main characters.  There were a lot of side character so some of the minor, minor character began to sound the same but it was forgivable.

Cut & Run (Cut & Run #1) by Abigail Roux

Cut & Run (Cut & Run #1) ~ Abigail Roux

This is an adult m/m romance crime mystery novel (Rated NC-17)

4 out of 5 stars

Book Summary

A series of murders in New York City has stymied the police and FBI alike, and they suspect the culprit is a single killer sending an indecipherable message. But when the two federal agents assigned to the investigation are taken out, the FBI takes a more personal interest in the case. Special Agent Ty Grady is pulled out of undercover work after his case blows up in his face. He's cocky, abrasive, and indisputably the best at what he does. But when he's paired with Special Agent Zane Garrett, it's hate at first sight. Garrett is the perfect image of an agent: serious, sober, and focused, which makes their partnership a classic clich: total opposites, good cop-bad cop, the odd couple. They both know immediately that their partnership will pose more of an obstacle than the lack of evidence left by the murderer. Practically before their special assignment starts, the murderer strikes again this time at them. Now on the run, trying to track down a man who has focused on killing his pursuers, Grady and Garrett will have to figure out how to work together before they become two more notches in the murderer's knife.

My Review

I’m a big crime/thriller/police procedural genre reader. I’d hoped that his book would mesh that love with my growing love for romance novels. And what I got was an interesting romance novel and a lack luster mystery.

So, I knew the killer at Hello, but that is just me. I’ve read these types of novels from the best. In the end, I don’t think that was the real point of this novel or series. The point seems to be how these two clicked and came together.

Characters – We’ve got two guys. I think they are both bi, but Zane didn’t seem so much bi as Ty did. Zane claimed to sleep with women, but I didn’t feel it. Anyway, for the most part I enjoyed the two. And let me confess, I didn’t enjoy Ty bottoming. It again, just didn’t feel right. However, I do think it added to his character development to let loose and give up control.

Overall, it was a fun, cute, and predictable read. I will continue the series if nothing more to see where the author could possibly take it. It feels like we’ve had our HEA and I won’t be reading for the crime side of things. So my curiosity will have me reading at least the next one.

My book boyfriend is TY.

My Review

I don’t like spoiler reviews but in this case I can’t really talk about it without giving spoilers. So check out my Goodreads’ Quick Review for a non-spoiler review.

From the first pages, I thought I was really going to like Kara. Here she was confident and everything I’d want to be at her age. Then I found out the truth. Kara was married. I was repulsed. As the story unfolded I tried to find fault in her husband to justify her actions and really found none. She’d made her bed, so as far as I was concerned, she should lie in it.

In walks Scott. And I wanted to believe that he was everything he portrayed himself to be. But after the ball, unlike Kara, I knew what he was and didn’t understand why she didn’t see it. She was a lawyer. She could smell a lie, yet she didn’t get it. After advice from professionals, she went with her gut.

The end surprised me. And not so much the conclusions she came to but the circumstances behind the light that dawn in.

I read the majority of the book straight through, stopping a few times. The reason it wasn’t a 5 star because I could put the book down if I wanted to.

Overall, very entertaining. This was another book like the one I posted yesterday that is a complete cluster fuck on the part of the main female.

My book boyfriend Cal. (And I never doubted him from the beginning to the end of the story) However, I will give you both Cal and Scott.

Life of the Party by Christine Anderson

Life of the Party ~ Christine Anderson

This is an adult romance type novel? - (Rated NC-17)

5 out of 5 stars

Book Summary

Seventeen-year-old Mackenzie Taylor can't wait to be free; free from high school, the shadow of her perfect older sister, and her disapproving parents. The rebellious party girl has a perfect accomplice in best friend Riley, a boy from the wrong side of the tracks who scores them drugs, booze and under-age entry into the only club in town. But then everything changes. A traumatized Riley suddenly decides to give up the party life, and a wide-eyed Mackenzie meets Grey Lewis, a broodingly talented, gorgeous older man she falls instantly in love with. Though Riley warns her to stay away, the aspiring rock star's body and ample drug supply are too tempting for her to resist. Previously inseparable, Riley and Mackenzie go their separate ways.

When summer hits, Mackenzie has new friends, a new apartment and new drugs to mask the pain of Riley's absence. And of course, she has Grey. But despite the fierce, consuming passion they share, the mysterious bad-boy always leaves her guessing. Is Grey really a good guy? Or was Riley right about him all along? Mackenzie's in too deep to care. Unable to curb her mounting addictions, before long the lust-for-life teen totally loses control. She forgets Riley, forgets life, forgets everything but Grey and their next hit.

But luckily for Mackenzie...Riley has never forgotten about her.

My Review

With a heavy heart and tears in my eyes, I say this book was amazing. No disrespect, but this book was like a drug and I was hopelessly addicted. I read through the night. Even though this book was long, I read just to get my next fix of each and every word. There were highs and lows, and none of it mattered as long as there was another page to read. I don’t know what more to say but thank you to the author for this amazing read. I'll be thinking about it for days to come. GREY!

Okay, this book left me shaken after reading it. It was so emotional for me, I couldn’t read another book for several hours just to get it out of my system. And I think that is what makes the difference most times between a 4 and a 5 star book for me. Those that I can’t stop thinking about or give me an emotional response when someone mentions it, that is a 5 star read if I’m choosing between 4 and 5.

The characters in this story are hard to like. The moral code for these characters is almost non-existent. I don’t have to like the main character to enjoy the story. In this case, I did like her just not her choices. This was a long road that only seemed to get worse it seemed at times as the story went on. Yet, I couldn’t tear myself from the pages.

As for Riley, he didn’t do it for me. He seemed to lack what Grey had. Staying power. Grey just got under my skin and I couldn’t get him out. Riley just kind of rolled off me. I liked him I guess for all he did, but liked him less for all he didn’t. Grey although probably, on the surface was the worst choice for me, just did it. There was a bit of insta love going, but not enough for me to take away cool points.

Be warned, this book will probably make you cry. Even though it’s been like a week since I read, my eyes are being to water just thinking about this story. I’m such a sap.

Overall, some people may not like the ending or rather how things were resolved. I have strong beliefs so it didn’t bother me much. And since the majority of the book wasn’t preachy, I won’t get into what that is. If you like Beautiful Disaster, Thoughtless, Easy, Reluctant Dom, or Poughkeepsie, you will probably like this one although the moral code is awful here.

My book boyfriend, Grey.

Endure (Need #4) by Carrie Jones

Endure (Need #4) by Carrie Jones

This is a paranormal fantasy novel (Rated PG-13)

4 out of 5 stars

Book Summary

It’s all-out war (and no-holds-barred romance) in the climactic conclusion to Carrie Jones’s bestselling series.

Zara is at the center of an impending apocalypse. True, she’s successfully rescued Nick from Valhalla, but it simply isn’t enough. Evil pixies are ravaging Bedford, and they need much more than one great warrior; they need an army. Zara isn’t sure what her role is anymore. She’s not just fighting for her friends; she’s also a pixie queen. And to align her team of pixies with the humans she loves will be one of her greatest battles yet. Especially since she can’t even reconcile her growing feelings for her pixie king . . .

Unexpected turns, surprising revelations, and one utterly satisfying romantic finale make Endure a thrilling end to this series of bestsellers.

My Review

It’s been a while since the last installment of this series and I’d forgotten just why I love Carrie Jones. This author has a sense of wit that may not make you laugh out loud all the time, but certainly you will chuckle inside. This one was a satisfying conclusion to this series.

I was all Team Nick through this series and found that I really didn’t like him much in this one. I think time heals old wounds because I find myself liking Astley even more than I had before. By the end, I was torn and neither choice would have bothered me much.

A lot was going on her and Carrie Jones kept us busy that it was hard to recognize that this was the finally book. By the end, I found myself needed more of a HEA. It just seemed to happen. So I guess it was the ending that changed my rating from a five to a four. But I wasn’t totally disappointed. Overall, this was a good book, a good series ended and a good series. So if you haven’t read, you should.

 Audio Review

Julia Whelan narrated this one. She did a really good job overall. If I had one complaint, it would be her choice of voice for Nick. It took some getting used to. But at least all the characters sounded unique adding to the experience. She also did an awesome job with the accents.

My book boyfriend, Astley.
