(Four Football Sized Hearts)

Book Summary

The only easy thing about Jude and Lucy’s relationship is their love for one another. Everything else is hard.

Especially when it comes to reigning in Jude’s trigger touch temper and Lucy’s increasing jealousy of Jude’s Spirit Sister on the cheer squad who’s attached herself to him in just about every way a girl could. Feeling the stress of trying to hang on to her quintessential bad boy while becoming the foremost dancer in her class, Lucy knows something’s going to break. She wants both. She needs both. But if she doesn’t make a choice, she risks losing everything.

For Lucy Larson and Jude Ryder, love might be the thing that just isn’t enough.

My Review

Although this story moved from a high school setting to a college setting, it wasn’t anything like Beautiful Disaster.

One thing I liked about this story was that even though I didn’t always agree with Lucy, she was a bit insecure.  However, at times she was justifided.  And even though she had that issue, she was firm in her decisions.  She wasn’t wishy washy there.  She stood her ground and held onto her beliefs right or wrong.

The story had me in emotional angst through to the end.  Ther ewas a time in the begining where I was so pissed off over a female character (she who should not be named, lol) that I stopped reading the book for a while. Thankfully, I didn't totally throw in the towel and I did finish.
I think there might be a next book although we do get resolution at the end of this on.  Just in case you are wondering.

Do I recommend? Yes.  It is well worth a read.  Start from the first book if you haven’t already.  You’ll need that background.

My book boyfriend, Jude of course.

Will Adele be able to rescue her mother and make it back to the Moon Realm before the President and the sun dweller soldiers destroy her family?

Can Tristan convince the moon dweller puppets of the error of their ways?

Was Adele's lost kiss with Tristan her one and only chance at love?

In her world there's only one rule: Someone must die.

My Review

Not every time will a five star first book be followed up in equal or better fashion.   Have no fear here, this book definitely will not disappoint.  I’m so in love with this series, I’m not sure I can wait for the next book.  David has created something very magical.

There isn’t peace in the realms.  There isn’t peace for Tristan and Adele.  This story is full of action and subtle romance done in the best way that you miss nothing.  This couple is like star-crossed lovers in this book, never getting a break with everything to lose.

Tristan left the sun, Adele fled the moon and they end up in the Star Realm.  We meet a few more interesting characters to add layers to the already complex but exciting series.  I was full of anticipation throughout and wasn’t disappointed other than it ending.

Overall, stellar read.

My Review

This story was good. I mean if you need a recommendation, there you have it. I love this series.

What do I love about it? The characters. Boy has Heven grown through the books. She finally really comes into herself this book. I have no complaints about anything she did. And Sam, he is just the best. This story is told from both their POV. Unlike a lot of books, we feel Sam’s love for Heven, yet he never feels soft. I love that.

Their romance is like heaven although the author puts us through hell, lol.

The story starts off a tad bit slow, but there were things that needed to happen. It didn’t take long for me to ride the current that was the story. It took me all the way out to sea and back without me noticing. I just enjoyed the ride. There was a secret that was a bit predictable, but I’m not sure that wasn’t intended to be known. Still that tiny bit of predictability didn’t take away from the story.

Overall very good story, very good.

My book boyfriend is Sam. But I’m going to give you Riley.

My Review

Talk about spontaneous combustion, this book is so hot!  Okay, the down and dirty, who makes aliens hot, A.M. Hardgrove.  But this book is more than just been a torch to my flame.  This book had me a believer in life off this planet.
This author does a wonderful job in world building and creating believable characters.  You just can’t help but love them and want to read more.  This series is connected to her “new adult” series but it can be read without it.
The characters are wonderfully developed and the storyline is fresh and new.  Most importantly, I couldn’t predict the twist and turns nor when the heat would blaze.  It made for a read I couldn’t put down and begged for more.
Overall, a great start to a series and one you should pick up.

Genesis (Elemental Enmity #3) by Christie Rich

Genesis (Elemental Enmity #3) ~ Christie Rich

This is a "new adult" paranomal romance novel (Rated PG-13)

(Five Hot Blood Male Hearts)

Book Summary

Having just escaped the nefarious plans of the Order, Rayla Tate thinks all she has to do now is rescue her family and sort through her feelings, but bonding with five men might just be her undoing. Not only does she have to deal with all of them reading her mind, Rayla must choose a bondmate before she will be allowed to venture into the mortal realm to save those she loves most.

She has three weeks to get to know each lord, but her journey turns into far more than a simple choice of the heart. Rayla comes face to face with the underhanded dealings of the fae political system where good is a matter of taste and evil lurks under beautiful shells. Long held judgments crumble when she discovers the heart beneath the men she has come to count on. Rayla must overcome long held fears, discover the truth behind the creatures of the dark realms, and conquer her greatest weakness before she can take her place as the new queen of the fae.

However, her world crumbles when she discovers following her heart’s desire might just mean the destruction of the world. Will Rayla have the courage to choose the man who has risked everything to win her, or will she succumb to the manipulations of the fae council and those who would use her power for evil?

One choice: five men. The stakes have never been higher, but which one will prevail?

My Review

This book was nothing short of awesome.  I love drama and this book had it in spades. Rayla is a girl whose position I didn’t envy.  The choice between five super delicious fae lords.  Yeah, there is no easy choice here.
The author does a wonderful job of letting us fall for each of the guys.  Each is strong as an alpha male yet each has their own vulnerabilities.  It should be odd to have five men but it is sooo not.
This elemental series is jammed packed with action, adventure and romance.  What more can you ask for.  I know.  Book four please, now.
If you haven’t tried this series, it’s a must.  The world building is excellent and the storyline just gets better and better.  I don’t read a lot of fae stories but I can say this one is widely unique.  Very different than any I’ve read which is a good thing.  What’s more than that, there are many stories within the whole story to keep you interested from page one to the end.
It is more than a page turner, it’s a beg the author for more kind of book.
Overall, a must read.
My book boyfriend, Heath. (I still love Zach)

Shallow (Going Under #2) by Georgia Cates BLOG TOUR

Shallow (Going Under #2) by Georgia Cates

This is a "new adult" contemporary romance. (Rated R)

Book Summary

Payton Archer's best friend, Claire, strives to be perfect in every way. Payton doesn't and this is her story.

Nick Hawke likes his car fast and his girls even faster. He blows through females quicker than his muscle car races down the "The Strip" in Collinsville and he wouldn’t have it any other way. Determined to avoid the devastation he has watched his father endure in the aftermath of his mother leaving, he believes there is no room in his life or his heart for a relationship lasting more than one night. He seeks happiness in things that won’t let him down...fast cars, adrenaline and one night stands. To his absolute dismay, all of that changes when he unexpectedly runs into an old friend and is introduced to Payton Archer, the first girl he ever wanted for more than one night. There’s only one catch...she is completely immune to him and his smooth talking ways.

Payton Archer is looking for what Claire has with Jessie, but she has given up on finding it...at least until she leaves for college in the Fall because she is certain that is where she will find the perfect guy to fit into her perfect world. She plans on Summer being nothing but three uneventful months of fun, but it turns out to be anything but ordinary when Payton is introduced to Nick Hawke, one of Jessie’s old Collinsville friends. She is shocked by her immediate and intense attraction for “Hawke” because nothing about him is what Payton is looking for. Sure, he’s hot and sexy but he comes from Collinsville and that is definitely not on her list of prerequisites. Everything about him makes Payton’s heart speed because he is exciting and dangerous, but his fast car and the dangerous chances he takes aren't what scares Payton the most...it’s the way Nick Hawke makes her feel every time he looks at her. Can Payton find that moment of total fearlessness and make the decision to leave the safe, shallow end of love to risk going under completely?

My Review

I liked this story better in certain ways.  We have the same premise with rich girl and bad boy but there stories were different.  This story had you caught in a tangled web the adults weaved.  In a way, I wish we got a little more answers, but I digress.

Let me take a step back.  I really like Payton.  She’s a smart ass and speaks her mind.  She does things she wants to do and not because she’s a follower.  She’s also a loyal friend and I think if she were real, she and I could be friends.

I tell you I read too many books because I didn’t remember from the first book that Payton was with Cooper, but who cares.  In walks Nick Hawke.  Yum.  And he was absolutely yummy in Payton’s head.  In Nick’s head, we see the more vulnerable side to him.  Which is hard at times and makes him appear soft, but he isn’t.

He’s the real deal to.  I like him.  I like his relationship which his family.  I like that he had issues but they were the criminal kind.  I liked a lot of Nick and you’ll just have to read for yourself why.

You can read this one alone but I would go ahead and suggest reading the first book.  You’ll get to see a side of Payton and other minor characters you won’t get in this one.  But it’s not required.

Overall, a solid read.  I look forward to the next on in the series.

My book boyfriend, Nick.

My Review

I read this book because I thought I needed to for the blog tour I’m doing. Little did I know that these books could be read as stand alones. However, I’m not disappointed. This book captured my attention and held on.
Okay so we have rich girl and poor bad boy. Cliché yes, but this author made this story her own and I didn't feel that the premise not being so very original didn't take away what was this story. It was a good love story. It was also interesting to have both POVs. The only drawback is that once your inside a guy’s head, they don't always sound as tough. Got to love them anyway.
Yes, there were a few plot holes. Things would happen that didn’t get answered. Not major deals, but the biggest drawback was the insta love. God, I hate that. I just don’t think you can truly be in love that quickly. I think you can think you are in love, fall in love and evidentially be in love, but two dates does not equal love.
Anyway, it was a good read.

Underneath, A thriller by Michael Cargill ~ An Excerpt

Underneath
A thriller by Michael Cargill

Look at the person sitting just across from you. It doesn't matter whether they’re a loved one, a friend, or a complete stranger.

Now look at their face. Are they happy? Are they sad? Or are they angry? Can you even tell?

How well do you actually know the people closest to you?

Have you ever seen the real person that lies just underneath what you see...?

ASIN - B008C3HIA2

“After finishing this book, I had to sit for a while and think about how I really felt about the story presented. It does take you to another level of thinking and wondering...What does the person you are in contact with at this moment really think underneath the exterior?” K Meador

“The narration is split into two parts where you observe the main character of Hugh alongside two police officers, until ultimately the connecting segments join together in the most dramatic climax of an astonishing ending. I found the character of Hugh extremely fascinating and intriguing, as his dual personality was one that mesmerized and made me want to read on to find out more.” Lucinda

“This story is cleverly written, it's rare that you can follow a character, get inside their head, dislike them intensely and then be completely surprised by a revelation that completely explains why they are the way they are.  Hats off to Michael for his clever character portrayals.” Joanna Barker

About the author:

Michael works in IT by day, and has heard the words “Yuck, I hate computers” more times than he cares to count.

Although generally a fan of thriller-suspense stories, he is also something a WWII enthusiast.  By this, he means that he likes reading about WWII; he has no desire to travel back in time, and actually be a WWII soldier.  Everything was black and white back in those days, so telling the difference between a blood stain, and a coffee stain is almost impossible.

Michael is a new author, and he published his first story in mid-2011.  Underneath is his debut novel, and he cites Stephen King, John Grisham, and James Herbert as influences.

Michael is as much a humorist as he is a novelist, and his website is chock full of hilariously irreverent and sarcastic articles.

Anyone looking to sample his work, should check out Shelter from Thunder.  It is short, and available for free on Amazon, Smashwords, and Barnes and Noble.

Interestingly, he thinks that authors should be more willing to embrace piracy.  He uploaded his own work to numerous torrent sites, and links to them are available on his website.

Excerpt

For most of the night he was friendly, charming and flirty. A couple of times, however, she thought she saw something unsettling and sinister about him. It was something she would never be able to actually explain, but it was as if she had seen another person somewhere underneath his pleasant exterior. Someone who was snarling at her. Ready to pounce. To smash her face, again and again, against the table if she didn’t give him what he wanted. Or worse.

However, it was nothing more than a glimpse that she saw out the corner of her eye, nd when she looked back it was gone. It was just Hugh sitting there, smiling and laughing as he always did. She put it down to nerves, and the fact that she was in an unfamiliar place with a man she had only met the other day; the wine was also clouding her judgement. After a while, she felt completely at ease in his company. Later on, they went to another venue that had a dance floor. He whispered in her ear that he also found the absence of her brassiere very liberating. She laughed, and playfully slapped his hands away.

They walked back to his apartment, sliding across one or two car bonnets on the way. It was late and dark when they got to the complex, so there was no-one hanging around outside, but Hugh didn’t even notice. He was too busy giving Abigail a piggy back to care about anything else. As they took the lift up to his floor, in the mirror’s reflection Abigail thought she saw that sinister look on Hugh’s face once more. Yet when she looked back, it was gone. The lift doors opened and when they stepped out, Abigail saw some straws lying on the floor of the corridor. She yelped in delight, and kicked at two that were lying right next to each other. One of them shot off across the floor, whilst the other one looped up into the air and hit her on the forehead. She screamed with laughter. Hugh couldn’t help, but smile. “Where the bloody hell did they come from?” she asked.

The unmissable third book in Vina Jackson's red-hot romantic trilogy.

My Review

This book dragged on a lot more.  We learn more about certain characters and meet new ones that will play a role in future books as Summer and Dominik story is over.
If you’ve read the first two books then you know just how dysfunctional each of these characters are. They are beyond flawed.  I can’t believe Summer wasted two years of her live because of lack of communication skills.
Anyway, we learn more about the history of the violin that is the glue between the pair.  And to be honest as interesting as it was, I was kind of waiting for the hot sex.  And there was some, but not to the extent of the first book or even the second.
Still, there is no way around not reading this book.  You need to get to the end.  I’m not so sure I’m satisfied with the ending.  I really wanted to see the happy couple together and would have preferred that to some of the endless pages with other stuff.  Ah, well, I understand the author is continuing the series with some of the other characters and Summer and Dominik will play minor roles.  Hopefully, because I want to see more bliss.
My book boyfriend Dominik.
