Book Summary

Bound by blood, condemned by fate

As a bloodtracker, Liv is extremely powerful. And in a world where power is a commodity that can get you killed, Liv's learnt to survive by her own rules.

Rule number one? Trust no one.

But when a friend's daughter goes missing, Liv is bound by a potent magical oath. She can't rest until the child is safe. And that means trusting her dangerous ex, Cam.

A sinister prophecy tells that she and Cam will be the death of each other, yet Liv's tired of being a slave to destiny. She's ready to play the forces controlling her world at their own game.

No matter what the cost.

My Review

Rachel Vincent has always been one of my favorite authors. Somewhere I read that this series didn’t have romance and I avoided reading this book for the longest time. Which didn’t make a whole lot of sense because I don’t need romance to enjoy a story. Anyway, my fault.

Now, this story has it all. It has action, mystery, romance and great writing. The world building is new and different and exciting to read. At certain points I got really emotional with one of the characters but by the end, I was rooting for that very character.

Told from two different points of view, this story is very original and worth a read. Despite my personal views about people withholding the truth, therefore causing conflict, it didn’t bother me as much in this story because romance wasn’t the main focus.

********SPOILER********
One note, I didn’t like Ana at all. She was a crappy friend. She compels her friend to hunt down her husband’s friend and kill him. Who does that? Okay, the hunting him down part okay. But if Liv isn’t a killer why compel her to do something illegal and against her principals. This same friend slept with her would be future husband.. This friend sucks and if not for the child, I wouldn’t do anything for her or care. But that’s me.
******End of SPOILER*****

Overall, do I recommend. Yes, it is really a good story.

Audio Review
Gabra Zackman does a wonderful job with this story. Her vocal range does an amazing job discerning all characters and accents. Male and female alike sound natural. I look forward to listening to more stories she narrates.

My book boyfriend is CAM.
