Fix by Force by Jason Warne

Fix by Force ~ Jason Warne

This is a young adult coming of age type story (PG-13)

4.5 out of 5 stars

Book Summary

Spencer doesn't have a choice. He can't choose to be different than what he is--the son of the town's worst enemy, the weakling who can't stand up for himself, the loser without friends. He can't change the way things are.Or maybe he can.Immediate confidence.Rapid change.Instant hope. These are the things Spencer believes he needs to fix his life, and that is what the steroids promise--a quick fix.But promises can be broken and shortcuts are often treacherous, and Spencer must decide if those risks are worth the perceived rewards--if "artificial" hope is strong enough for him to be fixed, by force.

My Review

This isn’t a romance story. This is a story about how to beat the odds given the cards you’ve been dealt in life. Told from a male POV and written by a guy, it was a treat for me. I found it hard to put this one down, despite the rather hard subject dealt with.

The characters are well written and solid. When reading they become three dimensional and leap off the page. Sometimes I wished for a little more physical description of characters, but this is a male mind. I’m a girl, so who am I to say how a guy’s mind works, lol. Also, it could be the author wants you to be able to paint your own picture, which is clever. And don’t get me wrong, there are physical descriptions.

The story line is raw and gritty. This isn’t for the faint of heart. The topic dealt in this book although not plagued by all, there still is a lot to learn from Spencer’s journey to hell and whether he gets back, you have to read to find out. Don’t automatically assume.

Overall, I really liked this one. I look forward to reading more from this author. So guys, read this one. It’s fictional realism at its best.

My book boyfriend, Spencer. (There is a reason why I choose this picture. Read and see why.)
