Book Summary

That hot guy tied to Lissianna Argeneau's bed? He's not dessert—he's the main course!

Lissianna has been spending her centuries pining for Mr. Right, not just a quick snack, and this sexy guy she finds in her bed looks like he might be a candidate. But there's another, more pressing issue: her tendency to faint at the sight of blood . . . an especially annoying quirk for a vampire. Of course it doesn't hurt that this man has a delicious-looking neck. What kind of cold-blooded vampire woman could resist a bite of that?

Dr. Gregory Hewitt recovers from the shock of waking up in a stranger's bedroom pretty quickly—once he sees a gorgeous woman about to treat him to a wild night of passion. But is it possible for the good doctor to find true love with a vampire vixen, or will he be just a good meal? That's a question Dr. Greg might be willing to sink his teeth into . . . if he can just get Lissianna to bite.

My Review

This book was entertaining at best. The writing felt amateurish at times. And the narration of the book didn’t help. But I’ll talk about that later.
This book starts off with a premise that should have been a winner. A vampire that faints at the sight of blood, I was intrigued. However, the execution of the story fell way short. And maybe this author has gotten better over the years. She does seem to have a following. And this book was written years ago, so I may give her the benefit of the doubt in the future.
However, this book did one of my no-nos that immediately marked the book down.
SPOILERS
Insta-love. Sorry, you don’t fall in love in a couple of days. Fall in lust, yes. Fall in infatuation, yes. Love, a big fat no. You don’t know that person. And sometimes I give leeway to shorten times when a couple is in extreme life or death situations where they are forced to spend long waking 24 hours of time together. And during this time they talk and share their history. But that’s not what happens here.
Yes, they were in a perceived life or death situation. But it didn’t last long enough to pass my exception rule.
Add to that, this guy, Greg, decides to give up his family forever for a woman he’s only known for a couple of days. It’s just not conceivable.  Or I should say, she didn’t sell it to me. I didn’t buy it one bit.
And for that reason, I could barely give it more than 3 hearts.

Audio Review
Victoria McGee did a passable job. There were awkward pauses that may have been the result of the editing of the audio book. And she didn’t deliver the funny punch lines like other seasoned narrators I’ve listed to.
Still, I didn’t find reading it a total waste of my time. Rather, I’ve read much better. Thus, I didn’t pick up the next book in the series. But I might one day.
My book boyfriend Gregory.
